Mahi Mahi are incredible fighters and great to eat. They travel in schools and often you will hook multiple fish at one time. Once you hook up the air show is on as these fish tend to jump multiple times during the fight.
The Wahoo is one of the fastest fish in the ocean and great on the dinner table. These fish are hard fighters and can be caught close to the reefs ledge or far out to sea.
Sailfish are really fun to catch on lighter tackle with live bait. They put on an acrobatic show as they jump in every direction in hopes of throwing the hook out of their mouth. Sailfish have been clocked at swimming at speeds of 70 mph making it one of the fastest fish in the ocean.
Great action on light tackle. The Shortbill Spearfish is a species of Marlin but they rarely get larger than 50 lbs. Beautiful fish and great tasting!
Giant Trevally are the apex predator of the reef and the main fish we target when fishing close to the island. They are notorious for breaking your line so to catch a big one is a real achievement.
Bluefin Trevally are the most common fish we catch along the reef and are great fun to catch on lighter tackle. They don't get as big as the GT but they put up a great fight for their size.
The Dogtooth Tuna are tremendous fighters and can really put you and the gear to the test. These are caught mostly on jigs and bait.
Common reef fish found throughout French Polynesia. Always a fun fight on small tackle.
The Grey Sapper ( Utu in Tahitian) is a fierce predator and is mostly caught by dropping live or dead bait down in the 60-100 ft depth. Delicious on the dinner table!
Barracuda are fast and strong and make for a great fight. They can be caught on poppers or with bait. Watch out for those teeth!
